Central Wisconsin is a great place to be in the summer. Not only are there plenty of lakes, rivers, and campgrounds for you to enjoy, but other great camping areas in the state are a short and easy drive away.
- Are you a nature person? Head north to enjoy the wilderness of Wisconsin at one of its many Northwood’s campgrounds. Hike, swim, boat, and more all while surrounded by scenic views. If you are looking for a longer road trip, keep driving north to Minnesota or the Upper Peninsula to enjoy the outdoors in Wisconsin’s neighboring states.
- Do you like camping, but also enjoy city life? Head south to camp in the Kettle Moraine or along Lake Michigan. When you get tired of cooking over a fire and fighting off mosquitoes, you can sneak off for a night on the town in Milwaukee.
- Taking kids camping with you? Take the short drive south to Wisconsin Dells. You really can’t go wrong with the Dells—there’s something for everyone. Waterparks, theme parks, kitschy souvenir shops, candy stores, and other attractions line the streets of the Dells. You can even learn a thing or two by riding one of the historic Ducks. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars when the adults need to cut loose from the kids for a while.
