The frost on my car each morning reminds me that winter is on its way and that I need to cram in as many autumn activities that I can while the weather is still bearable. One of my favorite summer and autumn activities is visiting farmers markets, and it’s safe to say I’ll be anxiously awaiting spring for the markets to open again. Take this as a reminder to wake up early tomorrow morning and hit one of the many farmers markets in our area before they close for the season.
Stevens Point, Waupaca, Wausau, Marshfield, and other towns in Central Wisconsin host farmers markets, where you can find anything from fresh produce to flowers to baked goods. What are your favorite farmers markets to visit?
Try taking your kids to the farmers market to get them excited about fresh fruits and vegetables. Let them look over all the colorful produce and pick out what they would like to try. This could be a great way to open the door to introducing more nutritious foods into your children’s diet! And if your kids are excited about eating nutritious foods, you will be too.
