Meet Michael Grimes, a sophomore art student at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, the newest artist to be featured in our pop-up art gallery.
Grimes is influenced by both his professors and loved ones, that have encouraged him to pursue art. His artistic influences include fauvism, the impressionists, and surrealism. He has the opportunity to study and become aware of various art forms in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at UWSP.
This year, Grimes artwork was shown at UWSP Art’s Bash, he also showed his art at last year’s celebration. His work has also been displayed in his home community of St. Francis, Wisconsin. As an artist, Grimes believes that when he creates a piece of work, it is important to put his ego aside. This allows him to focus on how he can better his artwork and improve from piece to piece.
“If at all possible, I would like to help spawn a world where art is viewed as a benefactor in society, focusing on the craft rather than gimmicks. I would like to become a studio artist who shows in galleries across the country, if not the world, to help accomplish this goal,” Grimes said.
If you are interested in purchasing any of Grimes work, please come check it out at our office in Stevens Point and ask an associate for more details.
