Road trip season is here. It’s time to pack up the car and get on the road. Whether you’re beach-bound, lake-bound, or heading to the Rocky Mountains—make sure you get your car checked out before you take off.
General vehicle maintenance is key to having a safe and enjoyable road trip or vacation. With the temperatures increasing it is important to make sure that your engine is properly lubricated by maintaining a regular oil change schedule. Check the oil every thousand miles to make sure that adequate oil levels are maintained.
Another important thing to check up on is that you have the right coolant (anti-freeze) mixture. Engine levels need to be checked to make sure that your car does not overheat while you are on a trip.
If you are bringing your car into a shop, make sure they check your tire pressure. You should also have your wiper fluid filled up. There is specially-designed fluid that helps clean and keep bugs off of your windshield. This type of fluid is especially helpful in the summer. While checking or changing wiper fluid, examine your wiper blades to see if they need to replaced. Wiper blades that are in poor condition can impair your vision and cause accidents.
