It may still be summer, but according to our agent Dale, it’s never too early to start preparing for hunting season. As Dale states, one of the most important things a hunter can do is to get organized.
“Hunters should start getting their equipment ready now. It’s never too early to start getting organized for hunting season.”
Getting all your equipment cleaned and organized now will give you enough time to do any repairs that need to be done. You don’t want to wake up opening morning just to realize your hunting equipment is unsafe to use.
Dale also told us that it’s important to air out any clothing that is worn while hunting. It’s common knowledge in hunting that deer and other animals have a highly developed sense of smell and some animals, specifically deer, use their sense of smell as a primary defense mechanism. Dale says,
You can find scent-removing detergent at hunting supply stores. Dale purchases his scent-control products at Cabela’s, because as he states, “They have all kinds of stuff to make me scent free for hunting!” From a scent-safe travel bag to scent-a-way dryer sheets, Cabela’s seems to have it all. Check out their scent-control products at this link.
It’s never too early to start preparing for your hunting trips. Dale has an upcoming hunting trip and has already started getting ready.
“I’m going bear hunting up north in three weeks and I’m already starting to get out all my clothes to wash them and hang them outside. I want to make sure I have everything ready in time.”
When and how do you get ready for hunting season? Do you have any hunting tips that you swear by?
