The holiday season is truly a wonderful time of year. This time of year allows many of us to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Many people like to also think about those in need during this time of year.
One of the most popular volunteer opportunities is probably right down the road from you. Whenever you walk out of a gas station, grocery store, or local Walgreens, you may see somebody ringing a little bell in front of a red kettle. This is part of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign that has been a American tradition since 1891. The Red Kettle Campaign helps in, ” providing toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round.” The money raised is donated to your local Salvation Army to support their efforts to better your community.
It is very easy to sign up for bell ringing. All you need to do is get your group together and go to this website. All you have to do is select your state and the area closest to you, or just enter your zip code.
There are several locations and different times that you can sign up for. Many of the local locations are in Stevens Point, Plover, and Wisconsin Rapids.
Also, remember that during the month of December we are donating $1 for every 1 LIKE on the Community Insurance & Associates Facebook page to the Salvation Army Hope Center in Stevens Point. So even if you don’t have time to ring bells for the Red Kettle Campaign, all it takes is a few seconds to LIKE our page and invite others to LIKE our page.
Thanks for all your help!
