According to Wisconsin News, early Sunday morning a bicyclist was struck and killed. Today, Pleasant Prairie police have identified this man as Devin J. Kunich, 21, of Kenosha. At the time of the accident, he was riding his bicycle north on County Highway H just before 1 am when he was hit from behind by a car.
Quashae D. Taylor, 18, of Kenosha was the driver of the vehicle which killed Kunich. She told investigators that she called 911 to report she had hit something, but did not know where she was. The investigation revealed that Kunich flew several hundred feet north of the accident scene before landing on the roadway.
Police were unable to find lighting on the bicycle besides the reflectors, and the cyclist was dressed in dark clothing at the time of the accident and did not have a helmet. Taylor was taken into custody on pending charges of homicide by negligent use of a motor vehicle. Police continue to investigate the circumstances behind the collision.
