Many areas throughout the Midwest were impacted by storms on Sunday, November 17th . Storms were prevalent in areas throughout Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Tornado warnings were issued in Milwaukee County Sunday morning, luckily there were no serious damages or tornado touchdowns sighted.
This was not the case for many towns throughout Illinois. The town of Washington, IL was severely damaged by the terrorizing storm that swept through the town. Several homes were destroyed, leaving people in the town reeling. Early this morning, the Mayor of Washington, IL announced that, “250 to 500 homes were either damaged or destroyed in the storm,” according to ABC News. Many people were injured in the storm and five people were reported dead.
Severe storms such as this one are rare occurrence in November; however, it goes to show that it is important to be prepared for the unexpected. As communities throughout the Midwest are dealing with the effects of the tornadoes today, keep these people in mind, and remember how important it is to have a homeowner’s policy. Thoughts go out to those involved with this storm as they deal with the loss of many of their homes or loved ones.
