Do you volunteer? Volunteering is a great activity year round, but it’s always nice to give back during the holiday season. There are many volunteer opportunities in our communities, and we’ve listed a few for you:
- Do you enjoy spending time with children? Consider volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters or the Boys and Girls Club. Both programs allow you to work with children and be a role model for kids who might need some guidance in their lives. I’ve volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters in the past and it is a very rewarding experience and surprisingly a great way to relieve some stress!
- The holiday season means that the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles will once again be outside of stores. You can sign up to be a bell ringer; the shifts are two hours long and you can bring friends. You can go online to sign up, which is a simple process, and then you are free to pick as many shifts as you please! Get a group of friends together to spread holiday cheer!
- Need more volunteer ideas? Log on to the United Way’s Web site or call 211 to find out more about volunteering in your area.
Make a commitment to volunteer this holiday season and it could turn in to a fun activity you enjoy all year long!
