The Central Rivers Farmshed in Stevens Point is a group of community members that believe in providing local food to people. They discuss concerns about current food issues, make plans to take action, and they work with local farmers so that our community has access to fresh locally-grown food. The Central Rivers Farmshed is located in downtown Stevens Point. They are currently undergoing major renovations, but the facility plans to hold greenhouse space, meeting spaces, and they also have a industrial grade kitchen.
This weekend, the Central Rivers Farmshed will be hosting their second annual Growing Collective Plant Sale. It will be held at their downtown location. There will be several plants for sale including peppers, tomatoes, herbs, melon, squash, lettuce, and many more.
The proceeds from the plant sale will be used to support all of the efforts made by the farmshed. It will also help fund the renovations. Their initiative will reach people throughout the Central Wisconsin area and teach the importance of bringing food from the farm to the table. The farmshed will not only have a positive impact on the community, but they will also be able to reach thousands through various demonstrations and tours.
The Growing Collective Plant Sale began on Thursday, May 23rd. They will also host the sale on Friday, May 23rd and Saturday, May 24th. The sale will go from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday. Then on Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Make sure you stop by the Central Rivers Farmshed over the next few days to check out the varieties of plants they will have for sale. This local event is great way to support this wonderful community and will help benefit all of the projects at the Central Rivers Farmshed.
Also, remember to check back here every Friday to see what’s going on in the Weekend Beat.
