Get ready, this weekend it’s going to be filled with fun in Iola. Tomorrow, February 7th marks the beginning of the 2015 Iola Winter Carnival. This festival will be filled with arts, crafts, community events, traditional Norwegian food, and much more.
Ice sculpture carving begins at 8:00 am in front of Iola-Scandinavia High School on Saturday, which is located on the corner of State Street and Chet Krause Drive. Also going on at the high school is the indoor craft sale.
In the afternoon on Saturday, make sure you go get yourself the lutefisk and fresh cod dinner between 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The dinner will be served at the Iola-Scandinavia High School. The cost of the dinner is $14 for and $5 for children under 10. At night, there will be a twilight snowshoe race at 6:00 pm at the Iola Winter Sports Club.
On Sunday, February 8th, the Central USSA Ski Jumping event will begin at noon at the Iola Winter Sports Club. In the evening, the “Fat Bike Race” begins at 6:00 pm. There will be food and beverage available at the event.
