Every year the small town of New London, Wisconsin turns into a haven for Irish festivities. They change their name to New Dublin, Wisconsin as people from all over the state come to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This week-long event leads up to the main events that are held on Saturday. New Dublin boasts Wisconsin’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade. After the parade you can go enjoy the Irish Fest on the streets of downtown New Dublin.
Saturday, March 22nd the St. Patrick’s Day Grand Parade will begin at 1:00 pm in downtown New London (New Dublin). The parade consists of a variety of marching bands, bagpipe players, business floats, special units, clowns, and much more. You can go here to see the parades route and figure out the best place to set up your lawn chairs.
Although the temperature looks pretty chilly for Saturday—you will still be able to warm up with a green beer in the large heated tent in downtown New Dublin. Irish Fest begins at 11:00 am with musical entertainment by Sheamus Fitzpatrick and the McNally Boys. Then at 3:00 pm Reilly will take the stage until 6:00 pm. Entrance to Irish Fest is only $5 for the entire day. There will be a variety of Irish food and beverages that are available for purchase in the tent. You can also browse the assortment of booths that offer items like t-shirts, sweatshirts, kilts, jewelry, and other unique items.
Irish Fest goes until 6:00 pm; however, you may want to visit any of the local restaurants or pubs in downtown New Dublin after. There will also be a free shuttle service around the New London area after Irish Fest. The shuttle service will run from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am. Remember, drinking and driving is never a good idea.
